What We’re Leaving Behind in 2025, and What We’re Carrying Into 2026

As we close out 2025, we thought it might be fun to take a moment to reflect on what this year taught us inside our WAG community. Every check-in, every small win, every “I didn’t think I could… but I did” moment adds up. And while January often gets all the attention for new beginnings, we know the end of the year is one of the most powerful times to lean into what’s been serving you well.

Here’s a look at the habits we’re leaving behind in 2025, and the ones we’re proudly taking with us into 2026.

What We’re Leaving Behind in 2025

1. All-or-Nothing Thinking

“Perfect tracking or no tracking at all.”
“Perfect week or blown week.”

We’re done with that. 2025 showed us that consistency is built in the messy middle, flexible, sustainable, and human.

2. Punishing Workouts

Training as a form of “making up” for food choices, forcing intensity when your body needs rest, or viewing movement only through the lens of calorie burn, we’re not here for it.

In 2026, movement is fuel for strength, mental clarity, longevity, and something we enjoy doing!

3. Comparing Your Journey to Someone Else’s

The more years I’m around the nutrition world the more I understand how each individual is truly unique. At WAG we instill the motto “rooted in science, custom to you”. Progress timelines are all different. Bodies respond differently. Seasons of life look different. Comparison can too much energy, and we’re letting it go.

4. Ignoring Hunger Cues

Skipping meals, pushing through hunger to “save calories,” avoiding carbs before training… these habits hold so many people back from their full potential.

As we move into 2026 we’re focusing on consistency while also tuning into what our bodies need.

5. Letting One Off-Track Day Spiral Into a Week

One choice doesn’t define anything. I always like to remind clients that if a person eats one healthy well ballanced meal, they’re suddenly not the pinnacle of health. But, for some reason we see one off meal as the end of all progress. In 2026, we’re choosing course correction over spiraling, and curiosity over self-criticism. Reminding ourselves to make the “next best choice”.

Behaviors We’re Carrying Into 2026

1. More Mindful Eating

Not rigid… but aware. Not judgmental… but intentional.

This year we saw clients thrive when they slowed down enough to notice what foods energized them, satisfied them, or left them feeling off. Clients reached their goals and were able to maintain their progress when this information was communicated with their coach allowing for a truly customized experience. We’re keeping that!

2. Strength Training for Longevity

We’re keeping the positive momentum that comes with training for both fun and purpose. We love seeing more women lifting heavy, and more parents modeling strength for their kids. We’ve witnessed clients of all ages focusing on muscle, bone health, and functional fitness. Strong and healthy is the new normal!

3. Prioritizing Protein and Plants

2025 was a big year for clients learning to anchor each meal with protein and fiber.

This practice has  improved cravings, energy, gut health, and body composition. At WAG this isn’t a diet trend, it’s the foundation of a healthy and stustainable plan.

4. Flexible Structure

We have an old saying around here “A diet that doesn’t bend will break” We saw more clients meal planning with room for fun and flexibility.

We’re leaning inot accurate tracking when it approperiate, and loosening up when life calls for it. Simplicity over perfection is the rhythm we’re taking into 2026.

5. Caring for Mental Health as Part of Caring for Physical Health

More rest.More boundaries.  More compassion. More asking for help.

The best physical progress we saw this year came from clients who honored both the emotional and the nutritional side of health.

6. Building Habits That Fit Real Life

We’re leaning away from the social media promoted, hypothetical ideal-world routines, and spending energy helping oru clients create habits that work in the chaos of actual human schedules.

From five-minute walks, protein-first snacks, meal prep shortcuts, bedtime routines and everything in between. These small commitments are coming with us into the new year.

A Final Word as We Head Into 2026

If 2025 taught us anything, it’s that sustainable nutrition and fitness doesn’t come from dramatic January promises. It comes from showing up when it’s easy, and also when it’s not. Course correcting with intention when things go sideways and always reminding ourselves that health is a long game.

Whether you made massive strides this year or you feel like you’re just getting started we’re here to help! Here’s to a year of strength, nourishment, and growth.

Here’s to 2026!
