Honestly, my goal when I started was just to clean up my diet. Not that it was horrible, but I had come to rely on quick fixes, meal replacements, protein bars, or more often than not, just not eating. I wanted to eat more real food, see how far that could take me as far as aesthetics & performance, and just gather data via specific experimentation.
I've only lost a lot of weight. I had a BodySpec scan at the beginning and then again two months in. I went from 15.3% to 11.1% bodyfat in 8 weeks. That was with a gain of .4% lean tissue. Essentially meaning that all of the weight I lost was just fat. My coach and I are going to work on bulking up and adding more muscle now that I've become so lean.
It's been a really positive force in my life. Aesthetics aside, my performance has improved significantly. I've PR'd many lifts, some of which had plateaued for over two years. I also increased my anaerobic capacity, as well as longer endurance efforts. Across all modes of performance, I have seen a noticeable improvement. At my age, that's incredibly elusive and very impressive.
