Banana chips are a fun snack… but a lot of packaged banana chips we find at the stores are filled with extra added fats and oils, which can take away from our precious fat macros. Luckily, making your own macro-friendly banana chips at home is easy and only requires two ingredients!

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 205 degrees F.
  2. Slice your banana into super thin slices (about the size of 2-3 stacked quarters). Line up your banana slices on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Drizzle a couple drops of lemon juice on top of each banana, or shake on a couple sprinkles of True Lemon. The acidity of the lemon is key to balancing the soft, sweet, starchy flavor of the banana, giving each chip a little tang!
  3. Place the tray in the oven for 60 minutes, flip each chip over, then continue cooking for another 60 minutes. The chips will NOT be crispy right away; in fact, they will be slightly bendy. Remove from the oven and allow the chips to cool completely for another hour, during which they will harden and turn crunchy!
  4. Enjoy these as a fun, low-fat snack, or as a crunchy topping for your yogurt or oatmeal. (Pro tip: A silicone baking mat is a great affordable and eco-friendly tool to create a non-stick cooking surface for your baking trays! They are easy to wash and minimize extra added fats or oils because the food slips right off of them.)
