Goal

**Here are my goals that I wrote at the beginning of my journey:**

  1. Want to feel confident in my body again by losing some weight put on in college
  2. Want to make true gains in the gym (lifts and gymnastics movements)
  3. Want to help myself so I can help others
  4. Want to have sustained energy and happiness
  5. Want to work on negative habits that I have neglected for years and learn what I need to do to fuel my body right.
  6. Want to be able to truly feel in touch with myself and show myself I can do anything I put my mind to.

In general, though, I wanted to truly become the best version of myself—not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well. I wanted to start my lifelong commitment to health and fitness. Throughout college, I always knew my passion for health and fitness was there; I studied nutrition, did CrossFit, was in a number of clubs promoting wellness, but I didn’t necessarily always align these values with my actions, which lead to a number of ongoing cycles when it came to eating and formed some negative relationships with food/exercise. I knew what foods I should be eating, but my timing and thinking around it was skewed. My goal was never to lose weight/inches or become a certain pants size; my goal was to be able to feel confident in my own skin and perform to my best abilities in every aspect of life.

I wanted to show myself I could do anything I set my mind to, that I could have goals and crush them. I wanted to inspire others to be the best they can be through CrossFit coaching and hopefully nutrition coaching soon enough. If I could put myself first, and truly find what it means to love myself for everything I am, everything I am capable of, I can then work towards my ultimate life goal of helping others do the same.

In total, I have lost around 20 pounds and about 10 inches total since I started WAG at the beginning of the summer. This may seem quite drastic in just over 3 months, but I had all the tools in my toolbox to find success, I just needed to know how to use them. So putting my mind and body to the test, I was able to see progress extremely fast and the number on the scale truly means nothing as I feel the best I have ever felt in my life. I am eating more consistently and more calorically than I ever have and am also the leanest I have ever been in my entire life.

Testimonial

WAG has changed my life in so many ways. Not only has it given me an amazing coach and another community to connect with others who are on their journey for greatness, but it has truly shown me that you can do anything you put your mind to. I signed up the night I got home from college (just graduated in May) because after a year of transitioning from college student to adult, and a lot of podcasts, self-help books, and mindset switches later, I knew the final step was truly putting my health first, which for me meant dialing in my nutrition. Food didn’t need to dictate my life and be a means of comfort. I didn’t need to exercise because I wanted to eat more. I didn’t need to eat less just to feel like I would fit into my formal dress. I wanted food to do what it is made to do: fuel me properly.

I was sick of having this negative relationship with food, especially as a nutrition major and someone who has always valued wellness. And that’s why WAG has saved me. It has truly allowed me to find my balance and find that place that I can truly perform at the best of my abilities, not only in the gym, but outside as well. I no longer dread Monday because Sunday "scaries" don’t exist anymore. I actually love Monday’s because it’s the start to a new week which means new goals and opportunities. I no longer feel the need to sleep in every day because I feared the thought of what not knowing what to do with my mornings. I have become more of a morning person because my body wakes up excited for the day and ready to take it on. Every task at hand is no longer a chore or a force; every task at hand is simply a responsibility that if I put all my energy into, will result in some sort of benefit.

Progress takes time and every obstacle makes room for progress. Observing the smallest successes and failures throughout the day is something that has kept me present and in touch with my emotions. WAG has increased my ability to be mindful and present while being okay with failure and loving the journey as it comes. I am so much more confident coaching CrossFit, I am so much more excited to meet new people, I am more content in my friendships and ability to create connections than ever before. I feel more ready than ever to enter the workforce and have been offered an opportunity with a company that will give me a new outlook on the digital marketing field of nutrition. While the progress made this summer was the most progress I have seen in my entire life (mentally, physically, professionally and emotionally), I truly think it is just the start of my journey, and I can't thank WAG enough for fueling my fire and giving me the tools to become the best that I can be.
