Build strength and endurance for marathon training and crossfit, while leaning out.
I cannot begin to say what a positive impact WAG has made on my life. Before I started the program, I was running marathons and competing in crossfit competitions. I was training multiple times a day, and running 40+ miles per week. I was so hungry all the time, yet my weight was gradually increasing. I thought that I could eat all the poptarts and ice cream whenever I wanted because, well, I earned it and I needed those calories. I started noticing a change in my body and couldn’t understand why I didn’t look leaner when I was doing all of this working out.
My coach Hillary taught me that food is fuel, and what I put into my body is what I’m going to get out of it. It took me a while to learn that real foods are what fit your macros. Real foods help you stay full, and real foods are what give you results. I still continued to run marathons and train for crossfit, but with better food choices. It made a HUGE difference. Not only did my crossfit gymnastics skills improve, but my lifts improved, and my endurance and stamina improved even while losing weight. While I didn’t PR in my marathon time, I noticed that my recovery was much better the days following. Committing to counting macros is a very drastic change for many people, and it is not an easy process. If it were easy, everyone would have a six pack! But, my coach gave me the tools I needed to succeed and was always there when I had an obstacle to overcome (hello wedding season!). There were many days where I wanted to binge, but knowing that I had to check in with my coach held me accountable for how well I stuck to my macros. The process gets easier, and you become stronger.
