To improve my eating habits (which had got pretty bad over the festive season!!); to improve my athletic performance, and to hopefully shift some body fat. I lost 6 kg (13 lbs).
The WAG program is by far the most effective nutrition program that I've ever done (and I've tried several!). Not only have I achieved some great results in terms of weight loss and body composition, but it's been an education for me around food more generally. I now view food as fuel for my body and am always looking for the most efficient fuels, rather than just the quick-fix type foods. It's been a massive education for me around food in general. WAG made me realize that I have been under-eating for at least the past 5 years on the understanding that I needed to restrict intake and train harder to lose weight. At first, I couldn't believe how much food I was having to eat with WAG to hit my daily targets, and was convinced that there had been some sort of mistake. As soon as I bumped up my daily intake to meet my goals, the weight started dropping and fat started shifting, and I've never looked back.
As well as dropping 6kg (13lbs), I am 11cm (4 inches) leaner around the waist, meaning that my suit trousers all have to be taken in to stop them falling down. It's a cost I don't mind paying!
My performance in the gym has also improved noticeably. I have been through an extensive rehab program for an injured shoulder over the past 4 months, and WAG, with the help of my amazing coach, has kept me accountable, lean and positive through the whole experience. I've come out the other side with a stronger shoulder and a really positive outlook on injuries and rehab that I lacked previously.
The WAG program isn't easy - particularly in the beginning - but then I've found that most things worth having in life don't come easy. Having said that, the fact that WAG doesn't restrict or prohibit any food or alcohol is brilliant. As long as you log your macros, you can eat whatever you like, and I love this freedom that this allows. Having a coach at your fingertips is also a massive help. It's like your own personal online cheer squad when you need it most!
Overall I think the program is brilliant, and I can see myself sticking with it long after my goals have been achieved. Thanks, WAG (and especially Laura Lee!!). You guys rock!!
