When I first joined WAG I wanted to improve my relationship with food and get stronger and leaner. I was just coming off of knee surgery and wanted to improve my recovery by addressing the holes in my nutrition. I had lots of experience tracking my food in the past and some success with getting leaner but needed to turn things up a notch and learn more. As a competitive masters weightlifter in the 58kg weight class, I needed to maximize my strength and had some national record aspirations.
I’ve lost over 13 lbs since starting WAG. More importantly, my body composition has drastically changed. I have also become stronger at a lower body weight and have recently hit lifetime lifting PR’s at a lower body weight (104 Back Squat/ 88 Front Squat/ 72 Clean and Jerk & bodyweight snatch) At the beginning of March I decided to drop a weight class in weightlifting from 58 to 53. I wanted to qualify for our state meet (by hitting 80% of the national qualifying total for the 53kg class) and become the master's state record holder for the snatch, CJ, and total for the 53kg weight class. The weight cut went perfectly and I met all my goals and then some.
I hit all-time #’s 53snatch/72CJ/125total. I had the meet of my life. Alexa was instrumental in helping me get there physically and mentally. Getting my nutrition dialed in gave me the confidence to believe in myself more than ever. It’s given me the confidence to achieve more on the platform and my mental game has never been stronger.
