This program has changed my life! I've always been active, but I struggled with my weight after having 2 children within 15 months in my 30's. I started CrossFit 3 years ago. Throughout the 3 years, I tried many different nutrition programs to accompany my work in the gym. I would always start out strong, but as soon as the weight on the scale quit moving, I would become frustrated and revert back to old eating habits. Or if the program required a significant cut in macros, I would find myself with no energy for workouts. The lack of energy and food led to frustration and binge eating. From a nutritional stand point, I had no idea what I was doing. I discovered WAG from a friend at the CrossFit gym that I drop into every Saturday. I noticed she was leaning out, making strength gains and maintaining wod times. After she told me about WAG and explained the process, I was still so hesitant, but so desperate for change. Nervously, I signed up for WAG the next day! I'm so thankful that I did! During the 3 months I was on the waiting list, I started counting macros and mentally preparing myself for the commitment I was making to change ME! Receiving the initial email was such a transformational moment for me that I saved it! I still reflect back to my "why's" and my "non-negotiable's". At first, I was nervous about having a male coach, but I now see he was the best person for me! I'm motivated weekly by Josh's positivity and encouragement. And sending pictures, while wearing very little clothing, to a ripped guy is a little motivational, too. :-) But mostly, I fell in love with the program!! For the first time on a program, I didn't feel deprived or restricted. I still don't feel like I'm "on a diet!" This IS a lifestyle change! Shortly after starting WAG, I did a good bit of traveling over 2 weeks including a few days in Maui. I was able to enjoy myself and enjoy yummy foods (cheeseburger and pizza) while still meeting my macros. Over the 2 weeks, I lost 1.2lbs. I came back from vacation lighter than I was when I left!! In the 19 weeks I've been on WAG, I haven't binged and I've met my macros everyday! It's not that I have super awesome willpower, it's that I've fallen in love with the process and I have a coach who helps me and supports me! And I haven't felt the need to binge because if I want something, I work it into my macros. Also, the mindful exercises have been a game changer for me. They help me to identify emotions and situations that lead to binge eating, so I can modify the behavior. Even if I don't share my thoughts with my coach, I reflect on the exercises every week. And the support from the Facebook group, I can't even begin to say how awesome everyone is!! From encouragement to sharing recipes, it's definitely the most active fb group I'm a part of. And I've learned so much about nutrition and changing my body composition. One of the biggest mistakes I made in the past was relying solely on the scale to define my progress. I've learned there's many more ways to measure progress through pictures, measurements and how clothes fit. When I started WAG, I was in size 10, now I'm a 4/6! I'm so fascinated by the process and how it has changed my life, that I am pursuing a certification in nutrition. If I could offer any advice to anyone on the fence, I'd say jump on over, the grass IS greener on the other side!! If you think you can't commit, if I can anyone can! I have a stressful job as an RN and a busy life as a mother of 3 (4, if you count my husband). Everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin! Be excellent!
