I joined WAG after a particularly busy period at work. I had been traveling a lot, not managing to CrossFit regularly and was feeling fat & fed up. Inspired by coaches and friends in my CrossFit box, I felt it was a chance to refocus & re-energize. Although slightly concerned about how to navigate the festive seasons, I started in early November 2017. My goals were fairly general at the beginning (fit and less fat) but over time they have become more specific and interestingly not related to the scales. For example, first Pull Ups then Chest to Bar Pull Ups ... Handstands then Handstand Push Ups. Latest goals are more weights on bar-bell and creating better habits during my work-trips. I absolutely cringed at the thought of sharing my "before" back fat photo and I remember being shocked when I first saw it as I don't get to see that angle of myself often (thank goodness). But just a few months on, the rolls are disappearing and I'm feeling lighter yet stronger. I am so grateful to Katie Holmes (my WAG coach) and fellow WAGers at CrossFit852 - including my husband who has also joined the journey and is looking great.
WAG has been helpful for me to understand how to manage healthy nutrition that fits my size, lifestyle and goals without any faddish food restrictions. I can still enjoy family meals, a glass of wine, some of my favorites - just need to plan, track and stay accountable. It was challenging at first, and I sometimes feel that I spend ages logging & thinking about food. My WAG coach has been positive, insightful and practical throughout the months of progress and I'm excited to continue.
