Goal

I signed up on my 37th birthday after debating it for many months.  I am a professional sailor and spent about 3 months at the start of this year racing in the Caribbean.  That sounds wonderful but from a health and fitness perspective it is not so great.  There is a lot of eating out and drinking and without regular access to a gym my workout regime quickly fell by the wayside.  So I decided that rather than use age as an excuse to let myself go, I would get in the best shape of my life.  There was also another reason - one that made the decision to sign up both difficult and super motivating all at the same time.  When I was 17 I was severely anorexic and although I am long since physically recovered the mental battle still reared its ugly head from time to time.  Initially I was scared to meticulously log my food and get on a scale every day in case it put me back in a super controlling mindset but I decided to take a different approach and see it as a way to put those demons to bed and find a way to really learn to love the skin I am in, be proud of my hard work and ultimately clean up the health of my body and mind.  In month 2 of WAG I did have a wobble and had to lean on coach Katie a little but I made a break through and am proud to say not only am I in the happiest place I have ever been in but I discovered a calling to train as a nutrition coach.  I also wore a bikini at the beach this summer without feeling self conscious about my body for the first time in my adult life - it sounds like a small thing but this is a monumental win for me.

The program really surprised me as it was so much more than just being given a set of macros.  The checkin responses from my coach were detailed and thorough so I knew she had read and reviewed all my weeks notes and data.  I learned so much about being kind to myself and celebrating the small wins.  I am beyond happy with the results and the energy that I now have and also the complete new direction my career is about to take as a result.  There is so much support and information through the knowledge base and the Facebook group.  This is for sure a journey and watch this space as I will be back with WAG before you know it!
