Hot Honey Air Fryer Salmon

Cooking salmon is always intimidating to me. I either overcook it or undercook it when I try to do it on the stovetop. By air frying it I found a fool proof way of enjoying salmon and incorporating it into my meal prep routine.

Simple and quick ways to prep protein is always a win for me, and this has me eating fish a lot more often! You can add these to tacos or rice/veggie bowls like I mention above, which is my current favorite. The hot honey and sriracha mayo really tie everything together so don’t leave those out!

My favorite way to serve this is to add rice to a bowl, your favorite veggies (edamame, steamed broccoli), avocado, cilantro, then the salmon bites with a drizzle of the hot honey, lime juice and sriracha mayo on top.

Note: I do not add the hot honey to coat the salmon prior to air frying because you end up losing some of it to the bottom of the fryer. Doing this can make it more crispy/caramelized though if you’d prefer that! I prefer to drizzle the honey over the top before eating so I can account for how much I am actually using in my macros.

Instructions

  1. Dice salmon into bite sizes pieces with a sharp knife.
  2. Dry salmon with a paper towel.
  3. Add salmon to a bowl and season with salt, paprika, pepper and olive oil. Toss to coat.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees and add salmon when ready. Cook for 5 minutes. Shake at the halfway point.
  5. While the salmon is cooking add honey, garlic and onion powders, and hot sauce to a small saucepan over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally until melted and bubbly, but not burned.
  6. Drizzle the hot honey over the salmon before serving.
  7. Store leftovers in the fridge and eat cold the next day.
