Goal

To increase energy throughout the day, workouts, sleep better, and overall feel better

I played division 1 lacrosse in college. Back then, I had no clue the importance of nutrition and roles it plays on performance, lifestyle, and mental health. I started with WAG on Jan 1 with hopes of having more energy throughout the day as well as during workouts. I was familiar with macronutrients, but was unsure of the #’s that would best fit these goals. I was given a baseline of #’s to follow, with weekly check in’s and adjustments based on energy levels, sleep, recovery, body comp, weight. I started out with a daily consumption of 2400 cals (175lbs) and began noticing changes almost immediately ( weight was fluctuating downwards) and over the course of 9 weeks dropped down 168lbs @ 2100 cal a day. Since then, I have worked up to 2800 cals a day and have currently been sitting at 165 lbs for the last 3 or so months. It seems like I was underfeeding and depriving my body of what it really needed. The majority of the time ( about 90%), I focused on eating nutrient dense, whole foods. Also, over the course of joining WAG, I have accumulated a wealth of information from the daily data entries and able to see how underfed I was. This knowledge has become power and I will continue to learn as much as I can.

There was a long period of time where I had a bad relationship with food, which affected other aspects of life. A great support system is instrumental in finding success no matter what you do. Even the most “successful” people have people they can lean on and ask for support. A lot of people who are active are under this notion that we need to eat less and exercise more and I don’t think that is the case. Everyone’s body is different and has different requirements to function optimally. Also, many people see these transformations and think they happen over the course of a week or two. In my opinion, the long term goal is the most sustainable one. The consistency will pay off. A special thank you to Kelsie for steering me in the right direction and answer any questions I had.
