Julie, (aka jrapp when competing), grew up in Northern California and was always very athletic. Her favorite sport growing up was soccer, and she played at a Division 1 school in college and semi-professionally after graduating.
In 2008, she was introduced to CrossFit. After her first workout, she was hooked. She loved the challenge, intensity and camaraderie of the sport, things she previously had only found in soccer.
After a couple of years, she hung up her cleats and fully embraced her newfound passion: CrossFit.
Julie had her first child in 2012 and her second in 2015. She contacted WAG 6 weeks after the birth of her second child to help her become a 53kg lifter for the US Masters National Weightlifting meet.
A short 4 months later, she not only lifted as a 53kg, but she also placed 1st in her age and weight class and set a new American record for the Clean & Jerk! Two weeks after the meet, she went on to get ranked 43rd in the world in her age group in Crossfit.
In 2017, she qualified for and competed in the Crossfit Games. She then took 2 years to recover from some health issues. In 2020, she placed 6th in the world to again qualify for the Games. Unfortunately, COVID had other plans. :-(
Despite the disappointment of not getting to compete, Julie got right back into her training with her new goal of making it to the 2021 Games.
Julie’s biggest challenge while doing WAG has been with her children: “I just love ‘em so darn much that I just wanna eat them… but that would really throw off my macros, so I just give them a hug instead!” :-)
Julie’s passion is to help people become the best version of themselves that they can be and to inspire others to do things they never thought possible.
