“Can you eat a Paleo-style diet while tracking macros?” is a question we get a LOT. Often, people will come to us from a Paleo or similar diet, happy with the results they have been getting, but want to dial in their nutrition even further.
The answer is yes, absolutely you can track macros while eating a paleo diet. In fact, a lot of ‘Paleo’ food and recipes are extremely macro friendly! Consider it this way:
If you prefer to eat a paleo diet, then you already know WHAT you want to eat as the foundation of your diet: meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds etc. But do you know the ratios? How much should you eat to get the results that you’re looking for?
This is where tracking macros and having a nutrition coach is most beneficial to you. You can eat all the paleo friendly foods in the world but if you’re not practicing portion control and if you don’t understand nutrient requirements, then you’re probably limiting your progress.
Truthfully, this answer goes for any diet type. Vegetarian, vegan, blood type diet, zodiac diet...even allergies and intolerance diets. Tracking macros is about taking YOUR diet, whatever it is, and showing you how to make it work best for you. There are some diets that can be more challenging to work around than others when it comes to tracking macros, but for the most part, anything goes.
