WAG Q&A With Adee, Episode 27: MyFitnessPal Hacks

MyFitnessPal is an excellent resource for tracking macros, but it can be hard to stay consistent with your nutrition when your entries aren’t. That’s why Adee is sharing some of her favorite hacks for avoiding false entries.

Existing Entries: When it comes to choosing existing entries, the MyFitnessPal creators made things easy by verifying specific entries with a green check mark. Adee notes, however, that there is still room for small inaccuracies in these entries. Whether you’re questioning a verified entry or a surplus of similar entries for the same item that yield different results, it always helps to cross-reference them with a quick Google search.

Trust yourself: One of Adee’s best hacks is also one of the most simple to follow — trust your instincts. If you’re tracking a meat source, it should have a higher protein content. Likewise, if you’re inputting a grain or food that’s heavy in carbs, make sure your entry reflects that.

Check for hidden additions: We all started as beginners, so there are bound to be some entries on MyFitnessPal that are inaccurate. Always make sure to look at the macro facts in full, because while you may be tracking a chicken breast with high protein content, the entry may also contain a fat count that you were unsure of.
